Computer
The engine that runs a bot's whole turn on its own cloud computer instead of on your machine.
The Computer engine runs a bot's turn on the bot's own cloud computer, not on your machine. The agent on the cloud computer has that computer's full desktop, browser, shell and disk, and the chat shows its screen live while it works.
The cloud computer comes from a third-party service (Box) that you connect with your own key and pay for yourself. See Cloud computer.
When to use it
- The work belongs on a separate machine, away from your own files.
- You want to watch a bot use a full desktop and browser.
For most jobs, a bot on a normal engine that's been given a cloud computer does the same work and keeps all of Murage's tools. Use this engine when you want the whole turn to happen on the cloud computer.
Set it up
- Add your Box key in Settings → Tools & Connections.
- Open the bot's Computer panel and create its cloud computer.
- In Bot settings → Model, set the Engine to Computer and pick a model. Models are labeled "on the box", for example a Claude or Codex model that runs on the cloud computer.
What works
- A full desktop on the cloud computer: browser, shell and files.
- The bot's screen shows live in the chat.
- Stopping the turn from Murage stops the work on the cloud computer.
Known limits
- None of Murage's own tools. The agent works only with what's on the cloud computer. It can't hand work to other bots, use connected apps or your MCP servers, or see pictures you attach.
- No approval cards. The agent on the cloud computer doesn't stop to ask you before its actions.
- One run is capped at 30 minutes. A longer run is interrupted.
- It can't use your own VPS or a Local VM. Use Claude Code or another engine for those.
- There's no Set CLI… for this engine.
Troubleshooting
"No Box key yet — add one in App Settings → Tools & Connections." Add the key, then check the engine again.
"this bot has no computer yet — open the Computer panel and provision one" Create the bot's cloud computer from its Computer panel.
"box run exceeded 30 minutes — interrupted" Break the task into smaller steps.
"box API unreachable" Murage couldn't reach the cloud computer service. Check your connection and try again.
"The Computer engine runs its agent on Box and cannot use a self-hosted VPS" Pick Claude Code or another tool-capable engine for a bot that uses your VPS.
