A phone your bots can use
With a paired phone, a bot can read your calendar and add events, set reminders, alarms and timers, find a contact, get your location and start a text or a call. You approve each request on the phone.
What a bot can do on your phone
Each ability is a separate switch, and each starts off. The card on the phone names the action in these words.
- Calendar: read your calendar, look for open time in your calendar, add an event, change an event.
- Reminders: read your reminders, add a reminder, mark a reminder done.
- Contacts: search your contacts, look up a contact.
- Location: get your location, approximate or precise, for things nearby.
- Alarms and timers: set an alarm, start a timer.
- Texts: start a text message for you to send.
- Calls: open the dialer with a number.
A read is quiet: nothing shows on the phone for it. Every change is shown to you on the phone before it happens. Calendar details, contacts and reminders always ask first.
Turn phone tools on for a bot
Step 1
Pair your phone
If you have not paired yet, open SettingsPhone and other devices and follow The Murage phone app. The Phone button in the sidebar shows the state afterwards: Phone connected, or Phone paired: not connected when the phone is out of reach.
You're done when: the Phone button in the sidebar reads Phone connected.
Step 2
Choose what this bot may do
Open the bot's settings and find the Phone card. It reads Choose what this bot may do on your paired phone. Everything starts off. You see every change on the phone before it happens.
Set each one as you like:
- Calendar: Off, Read, Add events or Read, add and change.
- Reminders and Contacts.
- Location: Approximate or Precise.
- Alarms and timers: Set.
- Texts: Prepare for you to send.
- Calls: Open the dialer.
If the card says No phone is paired yet. Pair one from Phone in the sidebar., go back to step 1. If it says This bot's engine can't use phone tools., switch the bot to another engine in Bot settingsModel.
You're done when: the abilities you want are set, and the rest read Off.
Step 3
Allow it on the phone
The first time, the phone asks Share phone data with AI?. It explains that what a bot reads from your phone, when you allow it, goes to the AI service that bot uses, through your own Murage. In the phone app's settings, Phone for your bots lets you choose what your bots can use on this phone.
If the phone has no passcode, it asks you to Set a passcode on this phone, then pair again. Phone tools need one.
You're done when: the phone has answered Share phone data with AI? and shows the bots under Phone for your bots.
Step 4
Ask the bot in your own chat
Ask in a direct chat with the bot, as you would ask a person: "Add dentist on Thursday at 3 to my calendar." The chat shows You'll get a request on your phone; open Murage there to allow it., and the phone shows a card that reads what the bot wants to do, for example Sam wants to use your calendar. Open Murage to allow it. Allow it on the phone.
You're done when: the chat shows an activity row such as Added an event on the Android phone.
Texts and calls
A bot never sends a text or places a call by itself through phone tools. With Texts on, it writes the message and opens it on your phone, and you tap send. With Calls on, it opens the dialer with the number, and you tap call. The phone reports back opened for you to send or dialer opened. Try: "Start a text to Sam saying I'll be ten minutes late."
For a bot ringing you, see Bot calls.
Where the data goes
What a bot reads from your phone goes to the AI service that bot uses, through your own Murage on your computer. It is treated like anything else you tell the bot. That is why the phone asks before the first read. Activity rows on the phone and in the chat say what was done, never what it contained: Read your calendar, not the appointments.
Rules worth knowing
- Only when you ask. A bot uses your phone when you ask it directly, in your own chat. A share or a one-tap ask from the phone does not count. Tap Ask again on that line to turn it into a direct ask.
- Desktop Murage only. Phone tools are offered by the desktop app, in a workspace that is not shared. Murage Cloud (coming soon) will say Coming to Murage Cloud until then.
- Engine support. Fuigo, Claude Code, Codex, pi, OpenCode, Gemini CLI, Qwen, Kimi, Cursor, Droid, Hermes and Cline can use phone tools. Antigravity and OpenClaw cannot.
- More than one phone. The bot names the phone it means, and the activity row says which one was used.
