Hermes
Run bots on Nous Research's Hermes Agent with Flux Router, your own model keys or a local model.
Hermes Agent is Nous Research's command-line agent. Murage runs it as an engine. It's listed as Hermes.
Hermes brings no cloud model list of its own. You give it models from Flux Router, from your saved model keys, or from a local server.
Hermes is a trademark of its owner. Murage isn't affiliated with Nous Research.
When to use it
- You already use Hermes and want your bots on it.
- You want Flux Router tiers or a local model with a full set of tools.
Install and set up
- Open Settings → Engines and find Hermes.
- If it says Not detected, choose Open install in Terminal. Murage opens Terminal with the right command for your computer.
On macOS and Linux:

- If Murage asks you to sign in, choose Open sign-in in Terminal. This runs Hermes' own setup:

- Back in Murage, choose Check again.
Then give Hermes a model: connect Flux Router, add a key in Settings → Models from a provider with an OpenAI-style API (OpenAI, OpenRouter, DeepSeek, Mistral, Groq or xAI), or add a server under Settings → Models → Local models.
What works
- Tools: Murage's tools, including handing work to other bots, memory search, your own MCP servers, connected apps, the built-in browser, and cloud and local computers. Control of this computer is offered when Hermes asks before each action.
- Pictures you attach go straight to the model, if the model accepts images.
- Model picking: Flux Router tiers, models from your OpenAI-style keys, and local models.
- Engine commands: type
/to see Hermes' own commands next to Murage's, once a chat has started.
What Murage changes in Hermes' settings
- Flux Router: Murage gives Hermes a private, temporary settings folder for each Flux turn. Your own Hermes settings aren't touched.
- Local models: when you pick a local model, Murage adds that server to Hermes' own settings file so Hermes can reach it.
Known limits
- With no Flux Router key, OpenAI-style key or local model, a Hermes bot has nothing to pick.
- Voice calls need Flux Router credits or your own voice keys.
- Approvals and the stop line: Hermes asks Murage before shell commands and file edits, and approval levels and the stop line judge those asks. Hermes doesn't ask before MCP or connected-app tools, so those run without a card on any level. For sends through tools you add, a Claude Code or Codex bot puts the stop line in front of them. Troubleshooting
"Hermes CLI is not installed" Install it with the command above, restart Murage, or choose Set CLI… and pick the hermes program yourself.
"HTTP 401: Missing Authentication header" Hermes tried to reach a provider without a key. Pick a model from Flux Router, a saved key or a local server in Bot settings → Model, rather than relying on Hermes' automatic provider choice.
A Flux Router model answers with a different model Make sure Flux Router is still connected in Settings → Models. Without a Flux key, a Flux pick falls back to Hermes' own default.
The model list is empty Connect Flux Router, add an OpenAI-style key in Settings → Models, or test a local model.
