Voice
Calls, voice notes, dictation and read-aloud: what each needs, and the voices you can pick.
Every bot can have its own voice. You can call it, get voice notes from it, dictate to it, or have it read its replies aloud.
Pick a voice
Open Bot settings → Voice & alerts.
- Voice engine: where the voice comes from.
- Flux: 41 voices through your Flux Router account, billed per character. No other key needed.
- OpenAI: speaks through your own OpenAI key.
- xAI: xAI's 28 voices, through your own xAI key or through Flux.
- ElevenLabs: with your own ElevenLabs API key.
- Built-in Mac voices or Built-in Windows voices: free, and no key needed.
- Voice: pick one. Flux voices are grouped as female, male and neutral, each with an accent and a short description. Every voice in the list has its own play button, so you can hear it before you pick it. You can search the list and filter it.
- Read replies aloud: speak every reply from this bot.
Every voice speaks every language.
Calls
Call any bot from the phone button at the top of its chat. It answers from its first sentence, looks things up on the web while you talk, and hands real work to its own engine. Talk over it or say "stop" to interrupt. Approve requests out loud; "yes for the rest of the call" covers ordinary requests. When you hang up, a note of the call is left in the chat.
Calls work on Mac, Windows and Ubuntu.
- On a Mac, Murage listens with Apple's on-device speech recognition. Allow Microphone and Speech Recognition when asked.
- On Windows and Ubuntu, Murage transcribes what you said through Flux, or your own Groq or OpenAI key. It hears you about 1.5 to 3 seconds after you stop, with no live words.
A call also needs a fast "voice host" model and a voice. Flux covers all of it with one key. Otherwise use your own keys: xAI, Anthropic, OpenAI, Groq or OpenRouter for the voice host, and a voice from the list above. A Claude or ChatGPT subscription doesn't count.
You can also call a channel; every member needs a voice first. Calls are in the app only. There are no phone-number calls.

Voice notes
Ask a bot for a voice note, or it may send one when you'd rather hear the answer. It arrives as an audio message in the bot's own voice, up to about 90 seconds, and is saved to its files. Voice notes from your Chief of Staff also go to Telegram, Slack or Discord when you're talking to it there.
Voice notes need an engine that can use Murage's tools.
Voice messages in Telegram, Slack and Discord
Send your Chief of Staff a voice message in the chat you paired, the same way you would to a person. It understands what you said and replies with a voice message in its own voice, with the detail in text if it's long. Murage must be running on your computer.
Dictation
Use the microphone in the message box to talk instead of type.
- On a Mac, dictation uses Apple's on-device recognition. It's free and stays on your computer.
- Elsewhere, hold to talk, and a Flux transcription comes back.
You can also attach an audio file and have it transcribed with Flux.
