Projects
A project is a piece of work with its own goal, bots, files and chat. How to create one and work with your bots towards the goal.
A project is a channel that knows what it's for. It has a written goal that every bot in it follows, its own files and chat, a lead, and a status.
Channels and projects
- New Channel: a chat with some bots.
- New Project: a piece of work with its own goal, files and chat.
Both are on the + menu in the sidebar. Projects appear under Projects in the sidebar.
Create a project
- Choose +, then New Project.
- Give it a name.
- Under What is it about?, write the goal, up to 2,000 characters. This becomes the instructions every bot in the project follows.
- Optionally add a team heading.
- Tick the bots and choose Create Project.
To turn an existing channel into a project, open it and choose Make it a project.
Inside a project
- Overview shows What this is for. Edit the goal here at any time.
- Chat is the shared conversation with every bot in the project.
- Status is In progress, On hold or Finished.
- Lead: pick the bot that coordinates the others from the lead picker at the top.
Work towards the goal
In the chat, type /goal and describe what "done" means. The lead keeps the members working until the goal settles. You can also schedule a team goal from Routines.
Good to know
- Projects don't have tasks, milestones or due dates. Put deadlines in the goal.
- Approvals still come to you, whatever the lead does.
