MCP servers
Give your bots more tools from an MCP server, or let another AI app work with your Murage team.
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is a standard way to plug tools into AI apps. Murage works with it in two directions.
Add your own MCP server
Give your bots tools from a trusted MCP server that runs on your computer.
- Open Connected apps from the sidebar and switch to MCP servers.
- Choose Add server.
- Fill in the Server name and the Executable command. Put each argument on its own line under Arguments, and any settings as
KEY=valuelines under Environment. - Choose Save. A new server is saved switched off.
- Choose Test to start it briefly and see the tools it offers.
- Choose Turn on.
The server's tools become available to bots whose engine supports MCP servers, such as Claude Code, Codex and the ACP engines, from their next task. No restart is needed.
Only local servers that start from a command are supported. Remote MCP addresses aren't. Adding and changing servers is only possible in the desktop app, because each server is a program your bots will start on your computer. Only add servers you trust.
Use Murage from another AI app
The desktop app includes its own MCP server, so another MCP app on your computer can work with your Murage team while Murage is running. It can:
- list your bots and channels and what they're doing;
- read and search conversations;
- create bots, channels and tasks;
- send work to a bot or channel and wait for the result;
- switch an idle bot to another available model.
It can't approve requests, remember permission grants, delete data, import teams, change keys or control computers. Those stay in Murage, with you.
To connect it on a Mac, add this to your MCP app's settings:

On Windows, use the installed Murage.exe as the command and the resources\server\mcp-server.js file next to it as the argument, usually under %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\Murage. On Ubuntu .deb installs, use /opt/Murage/murage and /opt/Murage/resources/server/mcp-server.js. Keep the same ELECTRON_RUN_AS_NODE setting.
