Skills, Skill Guard and /learn
Give bots written know-how, check every skill for red flags, and teach new skills from a conversation.
A skill is a set of written instructions a bot can follow, such as how to write a weekly report or review a contract. Skills are instructions, not app connections.
Find skills
Open Settings → Skills. You'll see:
- Your skills: skills you've imported, learned or switched on.
- Library: 2,237 skills to browse by topic or search. Read any skill before you use it.
- For your Chief of Staff: the built-in Chief of Staff guide.
Add a skill to a bot
Open Bot settings → Skills and choose Add a skill. Use Enable and Disable to switch a skill on or off for that bot.
Import a skill
In Settings → Skills, choose Import skill. You can import a SKILL.md file, a folder, a zip, or a link to a skill. An imported skill is checked for red flags first and is switched on for no bot until you choose.
Skill Guard
Every skill is checked by Skill Guard when you import it, install it, switch it on or edit it, and again each time Murage starts. There are three results:
- Clean, shown with a shield, or Built-in for library skills: ready to use.
- Needs a look: Skill Guard found something worth reading. It only switches on after you choose Use it anyway.
- Blocked: it can't be switched on, and it's switched off if it was on.
Skill Guard looks for known risky patterns. It is a strong first check, not a guarantee, so read skills from sources you don't know.
Teach a skill with /learn
/learn turns something you describe into a new skill. It's an early feature, so switch it on first: Settings → Experimental → Teach a skill.
Then, in a chat with a bot whose engine supports it, type /learn followed by what to learn:
/learn how we just wrote this week's investor update
You can point it at a description, a web address, a folder, or "what we just did". The bot writes the skill, and a card asks you to Enable it. Nothing is used until you do. Learned skills show as Learned in chat in the bot's skills.
How good a learned skill is depends on the bot's engine. Read it before you enable it.
Edit a skill
Open any skill in Settings → Skills to read it, edit it in the editor, or duplicate it and change the copy.
