Teams and team leads

A team is a group of bots that work together under one heading in the sidebar. Each team can have a lead and shared team instructions.

Roles#

Every bot has one place in your org chart, shown as a badge:

• Chief of Staff: the one bot above everyone. See Chief of Staff.
• Team lead: leads one team. Your Chief hands the team's work to its lead instead of going around it.
• Team member: a specialist on a team. No badge.
• On its own: a bot that isn't on a team and reports straight to your Chief.

Create a team#

Choose + in the sidebar, then New Team. You can:

• Start from a template. Describe the job under What should it do? and pick one of the Best matches. The library has 68 team packages. The preview lists the bots, the number of skills, routines and any apps it needs. Choose Create.
• Pick from my bots. Name the team, tick its bots, and optionally choose a Team lead and write Team instructions.
• Open a file… to import a team someone exported. See Backups and export.

Team instructions#

Team instructions are a short brief every bot on the team reads, such as goals, decisions and preferences. Choose the book icon next to the team's name in the sidebar to edit them. Only you write them; bots can't change them.

Move a bot#

Open the bot's menu in the sidebar and choose Move to team….

Rename, change or delete a team#

Open Team options (the three dots on the team heading in the sidebar) and choose Rename team, Manage members and lead or Delete team. The same settings open from the About tab of a team channel's details.

• Rename: its bots, channels, instructions and team memory keep working under the new name.
• Members: tick the bots on the team. Bots you remove stay, without a team.
• Team lead: pick one, or No lead. You can also right-click a bot and choose Make Team leader.
• Delete team removes the heading from the sidebar. No bot, channel or conversation is deleted. Murage asks whether to keep its bots as bots without a team, or archive them (you can bring them back from Archived bots).

Good to know

• Routines that come with a template arrive switched off, so nothing runs until you turn it on.
• If a template bot needs an app such as Gmail, connect it before you rely on that bot.
• A channel is a chat with some bots; a team is how they're organized in the sidebar. For shared work towards a goal, use a project.
