Built-in browser
Give a bot its own browser tab inside Murage that you can watch live and take over. Experimental, on Mac and Linux.
The built-in browser gives a bot its own browser tab, shown live in its computer panel. You watch the bot browse, and you can take over at any point. Each bot keeps its own logins unless you choose to share them.
It's an experimental feature. It stays off until you switch it on in Settings → Experimental, and it works on Mac and Linux only.
When to use it
Use it when the job is on the web: research, filling in a form, checking a dashboard, or working in a site the bot signs in to. It's lighter and safer than giving a bot your whole screen, because the bot only ever sees the page in its own tab.

Where it works
- macOS and Linux: yes.
- Windows: not available yet. The switch says "Temporarily unavailable on Windows while Electron's production sandbox support is being verified."
- In a browser or on your phone: no. It needs the Murage desktop app.
Some engines can't use it. The bot's settings tell you when: "This bot's current engine cannot use the built-in browser."
Switch it on
- Open Settings → Experimental.
- Turn on Built-in browser. The card then reads "Enabled for this workspace. Each bot also has its own browser switch."
- Open the bot's settings and go to Access.
- Turn on Browser ("Give this bot a built-in browser"). Bots start with the browser off, including bots the Chief of Staff creates and bots you import.
- Open the bot's chat, choose Bot's computer at the top, and open the Browser tab.
You can also set a bot's Runs on choice to Browser, which means web pages only, with no desktop. If the browser isn't switched on yet, that choice shows Enable Browser in Settings.
Watch and take over
The panel shows the live page, the address, and a status line such as Live · Bot control.
- Choose Take control to drive the page yourself. The status changes to Human control and the bot waits.
- Type a web address and choose Go to open a page.
- To type into the page, click a field, then use the box that says "Focus a page field, then type here" and choose Send text.
- Choose Return to bot to hand the page back.
If you lose connection while you're in control, you keep control until you return it. If control is held somewhere else, such as on another device, you'll see Take control here.
Logins and profiles
Use the Profile menu under the page to choose where the bot's logins live:
- name's own: private to this bot. This is the default.
- A named profile you already have, such as "Work", shared by every bot you put on it.
- Guest: a clean session that's cleared when you switch away.
- Use my Chrome: your own Google Chrome. See Use my Chrome.
To rename or delete named profiles, open Settings → Experimental → Browser profiles. Deleting a profile erases its logins, storage and cache, and any bot using it goes back to its own.
You can't change profiles while the bot is mid-turn or while you hold control. Stop the turn, or return control, first.
Passwords and sensitive pages
The bot can't use a page that has a password, code or card field, an embedded frame, or content Murage can't check. The panel tells you so. Type the sensitive details yourself.
Once you type or click in a page yourself, the bot can't use that page either. To give the bot its browser back, take control and choose Reopen blank page. The bot can also open a different page by itself.
Troubleshooting
- The Browser tab is missing. Check both switches: Settings → Experimental → Built-in browser and the bot's own Browser switch under Access.
- "The built-in browser is switched off under App Settings → Experimental." Turn on Built-in browser first.
- "The browser didn't start in time, so this turn ran without it. It'll try again next turn." or "The browser couldn't start, so this turn ran without it." The bot carries on without a browser for that turn. Send the next message and it tries again.
- "This page was paused to free memory." or "The page stopped unexpectedly." Reopen the Browser tab.
- "Input is catching up. Wait a moment before typing again." Pause briefly, then keep typing.
- "Return browser control before changing profiles" or "stop this bot's turn before changing its browser profile". Choose Return to bot, or stop the turn, then change the profile.
