Is Murage free?
Yes. The app is free and open source under AGPL-3.0-or-later. You pay only for the AI and services you choose: your existing AI plan, Flux Router credits or your own keys. See Costs and usage.
Do I need Flux Router?
No. If you're signed in to an engine such as Claude Code or Codex, you can chat with bots without it. Flux Router adds connected apps, voice, more models, web search with sources and images through one key. Each of those can also run on your own keys instead.
Does my Claude or ChatGPT subscription work?
Your Claude subscription works through Claude Code, and your ChatGPT plan through the official Codex CLI you install and sign in to yourself. Murage runs them as engines. Voice calls are the exception: they need Flux Router or your own API keys.
Where is my data?
On your computer, in the .murage folder in your home folder. There's no Murage server holding your work. What a bot sends to its engine for a turn goes to that engine's provider. See Privacy and usage analytics.
Does Murage send analytics?
Today's releases send no usage analytics. Anonymous, opt-out analytics are planned, and there's already a switch in Settings → General → Usage analytics.
Does it run when my computer is off?
No. Murage runs on your computer, so routines, webhooks, channels and phone access need it on and Murage running. A routine that's up to 12 hours late still runs when Murage comes back; later than that it's marked missed. Always-on hosting is planned for Murage Cloud, which isn't open yet.
Can a bot do something I didn't approve?
New bots start on Ask. On Full access, a bot stops before messaging anyone new, posting publicly, paying, or deleting outside its folder, unless you have allowed it for that task. On Hermes and other ACP engines, Ask and the stop line cover only what the engine asks Murage about: shell commands and file edits. Only No limits turns that off. The stop line is a careful check, not a sandbox, so keep bots on Ask for anything where a mistake would really hurt. See the Approvals playbook.
How many bots can I have?
One bot or dozens. Your Chief of Staff keeps track of up to 40 in its roster.
Can I use it from my phone?
Yes, through your phone's browser, which can be installed like an app. Pair it over your home Wi-Fi, or over Tailscale when you're away. There's no separate iPhone or Android app. See Use Murage on your phone.
Can I message my bots from Telegram, Slack or Discord?
Yes, your Chief of Staff, from one paired private chat or direct message in each. Send a voice message and it replies with one. On Telegram you can also approve requests with a tap. See Channels.
Is there WhatsApp?
Not as a channel. WhatsApp Business is available as a connected app some bots can use as a tool.
Can a bot use my computer?
On a Mac, yes, after you allow it. On Ubuntu, on an Xorg session. Not on Windows yet, where a Local VM desktop is the alternative. See Computers.
Do bots have their own browser?
On Mac and Ubuntu, as an experimental feature you switch on in Settings → Experimental. Not on Windows yet.
Do bots get smarter over time?
They remember what you tell them, keep their own notes, and learn skills you approve. With automatic learning switched on and a connection chosen, they pick up facts and ways of working as they go. They don't rewrite themselves. See Memory in depth.
Can my staff use the same bots?
Yes. Build a team once, export it, and everyone imports it on their own computer. Logins never travel. See Running Murage for a business with staff.
Does it work with n8n or Zapier?
Yes. Bots can run n8n workflows and Zaps through the n8n or Zapier MCP servers, added as custom MCP servers. n8n or Zapier can also start a Murage task through a local webhook; cloud senders need a tunnel. See MCP servers and Routines and webhooks.
Which languages does it speak?
Bots answer in the language you write in, and every voice speaks every language. The app's own interface is only partly translated so far; untranslated text stays in English.
Can I use a local model?
Yes. Murage finds Ollama, LM Studio, llama.cpp and others running on your computer. Use Settings → Models → Local models, and choose Test to check a model can use tools.
How do I update?
Murage tells you when an update is ready. See Updating Murage.
