Startup and ports
Murage won't open, never gets ready, or reports that every port is busy. Where to find the logs and what to try next.
When you open Murage, it starts a small background server on your own computer and shows the app on top of it. It uses port 8799. If that port is busy, it tries 18799, then 28799.
Murage opens but never gets ready
"The background server didn't come up in time" usually means a slow start, not a conflict.
- Quit Murage completely.
- Open it again and give it a moment.
Every port is busy
If Murage says every port answered from another program, the likely cause is a second copy of Murage already running, or another program using ports 8799 to 28799.
- Quit every copy of Murage. Check the menu bar or system tray too.
- Quit the other program if you know which one it is.
- Open Murage again.
Find the logs
Murage writes what happens at startup to a log file:
- Mac:
~/Library/Logs/Murage - Windows:
%APPDATA%\Murage\logs
Look for server.log. Remove anything private before you share it.
It still won't start
