Manage bots
Everything on a bot's right-click menu in the sidebar: duplicate, hide and show hidden, archive and restore, delete, move to a team, make a team leader, snooze and mark as unread.
The right-click menu
Right-click a bot in the sidebar for Make Team leader, Move to team…, Mark as Unread, Snooze…, Add a skill, Bot settings, Duplicate, Copy conversation ID, Hide from sidebar, Archive and Delete. On a Mac with a trackpad, a two-finger click opens the same menu.
Duplicate a bot
Choose Duplicate. You get a copy to change without touching the original.
Hide a bot you rarely use
Step 1
Hide it
Right-click the bot and choose Hide from sidebar. A hidden bot keeps working and keeps its chats. Routines still run, channels still answer, and other bots can still hand it work.
You're done when: the bot is gone from the list and a Show hidden button appears at the bottom.
Step 2
Bring it back
Choose Show hidden at the bottom of the bot list, right-click the bot and choose Restore to sidebar. Hide hidden bots tucks them away again.
You're done when: the bot is back in its place in the list.
Hidden bots are skipped by the Cmd+1 to Cmd+9 shortcuts (Ctrl on Windows and Linux), so the numbers follow the bots you can see.
Archive a bot
Choose Archive. Archiving keeps the bot's conversations, files and memory. The bot leaves the sidebar and waits in Archived bots, under + at the top of the sidebar. Restore brings it back with everything it had.
Which one, then. Archive is for a bot that did one project and might do another next quarter, because it comes back with its memory and its files and picks up where it left off. Hide is for a bot that still works every day, running its routines and answering its channel, but that you never open yourself and don't want taking up a slot in the list. Delete is for a bot you built wrong; if you are tempted to delete one that ever did real work, archive it instead, since an archived bot costs nothing to keep and a deleted one is gone.
Delete a bot
Choose Delete. Murage asks you to confirm.
Move, lead, snooze, mark as unread
- Move to team. Move to team… puts the bot under another heading. Its chats and memory come with it. Who it can then talk to is on Bots talking to each other.
- Make Team leader. The lead is the bot your Chief of Staff hands the team's work to. One lead per team. See Teams and team leads.
- Snooze. Snooze… quietens the bot's chat for the time you pick. Snoozed conversations are still backed up.
- Mark as Unread. Puts the unread dot back so you come back to it later.
- Add a skill. Opens the skill picker straight into this bot. See Skills.
- Copy conversation ID. Copies the ID a script or webhook needs to reach this bot. See Webhooks.
Deleting a whole team, and what happens to its bots, is on Teams and team leads.
