Why you can trust Murage.

You do not have to take our word for it. Murage is open source, the apps are signed, new bots ask before they act, and your data stays on your computer. Each reason below links to where you can check it.

Open source. macOS, Windows and Linux.

Seven reasons, each one checkable.

Open source, so anyone can check

Murage is open source under AGPL-3.0. The full source is public, so you or anyone you ask can read exactly what it does with your files.

What is open, and how to check it

Signed apps with published checksums

The Mac app is signed and notarized by Apple, and the Windows installer is signed. Every file on the download page lists its SHA-256 checksum, so you can check what you downloaded.

Four approval levels, and a stop line

Every conversation runs at Ask, Auto, Full access or No limits, and new bots start on Ask. On every level except No limits, a bot stops at the stop line. Full access and No limits can only be turned on in the desktop app, after a warning.

The browser floor

In Murage’s own browser and with Murage for Chrome, a bot stops at any password, code, card or payment field and hands that step to you, and it never sees what you type there. With Use my Chrome (remote debugging), the bot works in your Chrome the way you would, so use a profile you are comfortable sharing, or use Murage for Chrome instead.

Your keys and sign-ins are kept from bots

The keys and sign-ins you have given Murage are stored on your computer. No bot reads them without stopping to ask first, at any approval level.

Where your data lives

It runs on your own computer

Murage runs on your Mac, Windows PC or Linux computer. Memory, files and conversations are stored there, not on our servers. A bot can also work in its own Linux desktop on a server you own, over SSH, while the agent stays on your computer.

Every release is public

The changelog lists each release and what changed, straight from the release notes. The same notes are on GitHub.

The stop line, in one sentence.

It is code you can read, with tests next to it.

New bots start on Ask. On Full access, a bot stops before messaging anyone new, posting publicly, paying, or deleting outside its folder, unless you have allowed it for that task.
