AI for nonprofits

Spend the grant on the mission, not the paperwork.

Grant research, application drafts, donor thank-yous, board reports and volunteer onboarding. Murage gives a small team a Chief of Staff and specialists for the back-office work, and your people own every final word.

Back-Office CrewTurn operational issues into a prioritized daily action list with financial context and clear follow-ups.

A grey-haired nonprofit director in a kente-trimmed shirt reads a printed document with a pen at a long table in a community hall, crates of donated food and stacked chairs in late sun behind him.

Where the week goes.

  • Grant deadlines everywhere. The right grant exists. Finding it and writing the mechanical sections takes weeks.

  • Thank-yous that wait. Every donor deserves a personal note. The team is three people.

  • Hand this off first: grant research

“Every Monday, search for open grants for youth literacy programs in Ohio. List eligibility, amount and deadline for each, and rank them by fit.”

    • Uses live web search while your computer is on. Your team chooses which to apply for.

Why this team fits the work.

  • Why it fits this work

    Free means free.

No nonprofit plan, no seat count and no discount form. The app is free for every staff member and volunteer; you pay only for the AI you choose.

  • Runs the agents you already pay for.

Claude Code, Codex, Hermes and more, each bot on the engine that suits its job. Keep the one you use; Murage puts them on one team, and you can switch any bot’s engine later.

  • Free, on the plan you already have.

The Murage app is free. Your team runs on the AI plan you already pay for, and a busy team uses its allowance faster. Connected apps and voice use optional Flux Router credits or your own keys.

  • A team that splits the job and brings back each part.

Your Chief of Staff hands each part of the job to a specialist, can run it on a schedule, and gives you the draft.

  • You hold the stop line.

New bots start on Ask. On Full access, a bot stops before messaging anyone new, posting publicly, paying, or deleting outside its folder, unless you have allowed it for that task. Replies in an existing conversation go ahead on Auto and Full access. No limits turns the stop line off. On Hermes and other ACP engines, Ask and the stop line cover only what the engine asks Murage about: shell commands and file edits.

  • Weekly reportThe board chair’s update, written before Friday.“Every Friday at 3, draft the program update for our board chair: what happened this week, what’s stuck, and what we need. Under 300 words. Don’t include donor names.”See the job in detail
  • Content draftsProgram stories into a donor newsletter.“Turn this month’s three program stories, with names removed, into a donor newsletter and three posts. Say only what our program data supports.”See the job in detail
  • Write the SOPExplain a job once. The skill is saved, and you can open and edit it.“/learn how we onboard a new volunteer. I’ll walk you through it now.”Show the bot the steps, review the skill it writes and enable it when you’re satisfied. More jobs to hand off.

Each job starts with one sentence to your Chief of Staff, and ends with a draft or a question for you.

  • Application drafts

Your team owns the final narrative and submits the application.

“Draft the organizational background, budget narrative and evaluation sections for the Carver Foundation grant from our approved program data.”

  • Donor thank-yous

Every note waits for your approval.

“Here’s this month’s donations export. Draft a personal thank-you for each donor over $100 that mentions what their gift supports. Don’t send.”

  • Board report

    Your treasurer confirms the numbers.

“Draft the quarterly board report in last quarter’s format from these program updates and the finance summary. Don’t include donor names.”

  • Volunteer onboarding

A pack you review and share.

“Write the volunteer welcome pack and a first-week checklist from our handbook and this list of roles.”

Questions about AI for nonprofits.

How can AI help a nonprofit?+

It finds grants, drafts the mechanical sections of applications, writes donor thank-yous and prepares board reports. Your team reviews everything and owns the final word.

Is there a nonprofit discount?+

There’s nothing to discount: Murage is free and open source for everyone. You pay your AI provider, plus Flux Router credits only if you choose Flux; your own keys work instead.

Can AI submit grant applications?+

No. It drafts and your team chooses, edits and submits.

Where does my client data go?+

Files, memory and conversations are stored on your computer, not on our servers. The AI engine you choose reads what you send it, under its own terms, and any app you connect gets what a job needs. For sensitive material, a bot can run on a local model: model processing stays on your hardware, while web search, connected apps and hosted voice still use outside services.

Does it keep working when my computer is off?+

No. Murage runs while your computer is on and the app is open, and a scheduled job up to 12 hours late still runs when you come back. Always-on hosting is coming with Murage Cloud, which isn’t open yet.

Rather have it set up for you?

We build your first team with you, connect your tools and write your House Rules. Tell us what you need and we’ll quote before anything is booked.
